Travelling With Diabetes – ROUND THE WORLD 2009

Posted by Patrick Heathcock - June 30th, 2009

We’ve just launched our first ROUND THE WORLD journey.  ROUND THE WORLD 2009 – ‘Travelling With Diabetes’ has taken a huge amount of time to prepare, organise and needs still more time beyond this launch but the essentials are in place. We’re extremely proud of the result and we hope that our readers around the world love it as much as we do.

ROUND THE WORLD is intended to be a yearly adventure where JUST THE PLANET supports a special travel event in aid of  something worthwhile: medical research,  eco tourism and the like … .

‘Travelling With Diabetes’ presents the adventures of Bridget McNulty (published novelist and Type 1 diabetic), and her partner Mark Peddle (photographer), as they travel around the world, spreading awareness about diabetes, and showing that there is no reason for the disease to stop you living your dreams.

Their journey will be thoroughly documented through their frequently updated blog, Mark’s spectacular travel photographs, weekly videos hosted on YouTube, and daily video snippets of the Best Moment of the Day.

Followers will be able to track Bridget and Mark’s journey across the planet, as they travel from first world to third, and visit over 16 different countries. Awareness will be raised through the website, as well as through public speaking engagements that Bridget will give about the challenges of travelling with diabetes on a lengthy Round The World journey.

The pair will leave Cape Town , South Africa early September 2009, and will travel to Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Japan, the USA, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey, returning to Cape Town in June 2010 in time for the Soccer World Cup, documenting the journey as they go.

Follow their journey on JUST THE PLANET and on SWEET LIFE

Enjoy the journey!
